For season 2011/12 we are running two separate leagues. The Primary League will comprise two Bronco teams together with one team each from Erskine Eagles, Barsail and Bishopton Primary Schools. We're also running an Under 16 League with three Bronco teams, two from Johnstone High and one from Renfrew Rocks. The competitive season tips off with the first three matches on 24 November. Check out the fixture list to see what teams are playing.
25th October 2011 - Glasgow Rocks Matchday Special
The Glasgow Rocks have invited us to join them once again for a Match Day Special at the Kelvin Hall on Sunday, 13 November. The charge per player is £15.00 (there may also be a nominal charge for transport costs) which, in addition to one and a half hours of training, includes a signed game day programme, Glasgow Rocks keyring, the opportunity to meet the Rocks professional team and a ticket for the game. If you want to go and haven't already signed up for this event, see Club Secretary, Linda Gillies for more details. This is a televised event, so we're asking everyone with Broncos gear to wear it on the day and make a real impact in the crowd shots.
20th October 2011 - New Prices On Garment Forms
Due to recent price changes by our suppliers, the prices on the garment forms have had to be altered. The new forms are available to download in our Club Shop.
30th August 2011 - Season 2011/12 Launch
The new season tips off on Thursday, 8 September for both age groups. The session for players in Primary 4 to 7 is from 4.00 to 5.15 and High School players train between 5.15 and 7.00.
30th August 2011 -Photographs and Clocks
For anyone unable to attend the Awards Night, samples of players' photos and Broncos clocks will be available to order at Thursday training nights. Why not pop in for a look when dropping off or picking up your child?
30th August 2011 - Pages Updated
The pages have been updated to show the latest Streetball, League Awards and Bronco Awards for the past season.
18th June 2011 - Bishopton Day
The club must pay a special tribute to the Committee, Coaches, helpers and members who were able to lend a hand in making the day such a huge success. Given that the previous evening was taken up with the annual awards ceremony, there was no time for a rest before having to report for duty down at the (rather soggy) field.
Thankfully, hundreds of people defied the weather's best efforts to ruin the day and came out in their droves which resulted in a stall that was constantly busy. There was a great atmosphere around and plenty of smiling faces with loads of winners at the tombola and some very closely-fought 10-Shot Challenges (including 3 shoot-out deciders). We were easily as busy as last year which had been an absolute scorcher. So all in all, a profitable end to a very busy season for all the Broncos officials.
17th June 2011 - Awards Night 2011
Once again this popular event was well attended with players and parents keen to see the children's talents recognised. We were delighted to welcome back our good friend Scott Russell, formerly of the Glasgow Rocks, to present the individual and team League Awards and season certificates. Honorary Head Coach Tim Burges also took time out from moving house to present the season's Broncos Awards.
With this being a fund raising year, the night featured a guess the weight of the cake competition (the Broncos cake having been supplied by Shirley Adamson who was voted on to the Committee at the AGM which preceded the event). There was also an opportunity for parents to order photos of the players or to buy a Broncos clock. A raffle and blind auction also helped to raise some much needed funds for the coming season.

4th May 2011 - Senior Success
Huge congratulations to the Senior Girls and Boys teams of Park Mains High School who recently "did the double" of each winning their respective Scottish Basketball Open Championship. This was a massive achievement and another ringing endorsement of the importance of Bishopton and Erskine as a significant hub for Basketball in Renfrewshire and Scotland. Of course, we are enormously proud to note the high representation of current and ex-Broncos within both teams. Nine of the ten girls and nine of the twelve boys have been members of Bishopton Basketball Club at some stage of their playing career and seven of the players are still heavily involved with the club either as players or Junior Coaches/Helpers.
Well done, guys!
4th May 2011 - Awards Night 2011
This will take place in the function suite of Erskine Sports Centre on Friday, 17 June at 7.00pm. As well as presenting the annual Bronco and League awards, we'll be drawing the prizes in our grand Raffle as well as hosting a Blind Auction for some special "not to be missed" items.

28 March 2011 - Updated Fixtures List
An updated fixtures list has been posted in the Bronco League Fixtures section of the website.
16 March 2011 - 2011 Fundraiser
As a consequence of increasing costs such as hall hire and sporting goods, the club is looking for a funding boost to enable us to buy and replace some much-needed equipment in order to maintain the high standard of facilities that we've been able to offer our players during the past 7 years.
Therefore, on 17 March, we'll be organising a "Lay-Up Challenge". This involves every club member trying to score as many lay-ups (dribbling the ball towards the basket before taking the final shot) as possible within 3 minutes. As well as participating in this event, we hope that every single player will make a huge effort for the club and encourage as many sponsors as possible to pledge a donation over the next few weeks.
Watch this space for the final total raised.
16 March 2011 - Latest League Night
Results and updated league tables after the matches of the 10th March are now available in Bronco League!
23 January 2011 - New Photos Update
The Christmas Fun Night photos and the pictures from the Rocks trip are now available in the Gallery in the 'Christmas and Anniversaries' and 'Glasgow Rocks' sections.
19 January 2011 - Broncos Merchandise
Unfortunately, due to the worldwide increase in the price of cotton, coupled with the increase in VAT, our suppliers have been forced to put up the prices of certain garments. Please be aware that the prices currently shown on our website and order forms may be subject to change when we receive the revised price list from our supplier. Meanwhile, we still intend to run the shop at each of our league nights, so the sample rail and order forms will be available at our next league night on 27 January at the Sports Centre.
19 January 2011 - Kit Recycling
Whether you're a parent or a young player, you'll know that our members grow so fast and very soon those treasured boots, special basketball outfit or even Broncos top become unwearable. In these difficult financial times, if you're in that position and your garments are in decent condition and no longer of use to you, please consider giving them a new lease of life by handing them into our kit recycling initiative run by the Broncos Committee Members. We'll ensure that anything handed in is distributed to other players in the club. Thank you.
19 January 2011 - Revised Fixture List
For those who've added the remaining team fixtures into their 2011 diaries, please note the revised fixture list which affects some matches from 24 March onwards.
13 January 2011 - First club night after the Christmas break
We're straight into the next match night of our expanded league. Due to the forced postponement of matches on 9 December as a result of the weather, please note instead of the 2nd Sophomore match involving the Spurs and Blazers, this will now feature the Mustangs and Chargers. Check out the League Fixtures page to see the revised fixtures list.
9 January 2011 - Glasgow Rocks Match Day Special
Check out the Gallery to see the photos from this hugely successful event.
9 January 2011 - Glasgow Rocks Match Day Special
For those attending this special event, please note that as a result of the Rocks requesting an earlier start to the training session, the revised timings are as follows: -
Meet at Bishopton Primary School - 12.15 pm (bus will leave at 12.30 pm)
Drop-off at Kelvin Hall - 1.05 pm
Pick-up at Kelvin Hall after the match - 7.15 pm
Drop-off at Bishopton Primary School - 7.50 pm approx.
It would be great to see as many of our members as possible wearing Broncos gear on the day. As you can see, we'll be away from Bishopton for quite a while, so unless you want to rely on what's available at the Kelvin Hall, please ensure that anyone going on the trip has their own supplies of food and drink. Meanwhile, if anyone needs more information about the event, or if there is a problem with the above timings, please get in touch with a Coach or Committee Member.
9 January 2011 - Glasgow Rocks Match Day Special
Among the club's highlights over the past few years have been trips to see the Rocks. Best of all have been the Match Day Specials when our players get the chance to train with the Rocks' own training squad, meet the players and watch the pre-match preparations before settling down to watch the match itself.
This opportunity has only recently been resurrected by the Rocks and we've been invited to repeat outings of the past when we've been granted exclusive sessions just for our players! Check out the Rocks pages under "Out and About" on our website.
We've now been offered Sunday, 9 January for this special event and we're hoping to bring along as many of our players as possible in order to claim that exclusive session. The cost of the trip will be £20 which includes transport to and from the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow. For any player's friends or relatives wishing to catch the match later on (tip-off 5 o'clock), we can arrange additional match tickets at £5.00 each. Look out for a booking/consent form at the sports centre soon.
Also, it would be really good to see as many of our members as possible wearing Bronco gear.
6 January 2011
No club night due to the Christmas break (see 13 January details below).
1 January 2011
A very happy New Year to all our players and their families and to all visitors to the website from the Committee and Coaches of the Broncos. Here's to a special, successful and prosperous 2011.

1 November 2010 - Riverside League
The first match night of our expanded league is on Thursday, 25 November. Check out the League Fixtures page to see who's playing! By now, all members should be aware of the team to which they've been assigned. If you don't know, get in touch with Coach Farmer.
2 September 2010 - Launch of new Bronco Riverside League announced.
For Season 2010-11 our 4-team league is expanding to include a new team from Barsail Primary School (Bulldogs) plus 2 Sophomore teams (Spurs and Mavericks) from Johnstone High School. Coach Farmer stated "As well as increasing the opportunity for competitive play by holding 10 league nights instead of 6, there will be a greater variety of opponents for players to pit their skills against."
The first matches of the newly branded "Riverside" League take place on 28 October. Check out the League Fixtures page for more details.
16 August - Streetball 2010
Tonight saw the final turnout for our popular summer outdoor Streetball initiative. Despite torrential rain, play continued right to the end of the night with some of the players seemingly trying to put off the inevitable return to school the next day. Reflecting on the summer's fourteen 2-hour sessions, Coach Orr said "This has been our best year yet. The turnout has been amazing and running 2 courts every night again has given the younger children a chance to get involved in basketball. As always, our thanks go to Bishopton Primary for the use of their court and storage facilities." Coach Pollock added "The enthusiasm of our players demonstrates the value of this initiative. Despite some very heavy showers on a couple of nights (particularly tonight!), no-one wanted to quit, meaning that not one session had to be cancelled due to the weather. This is testimony to the popularity of Broncos Streetball which continues to be a huge success in Bishopton."
