Season 10/11
The major change for this season was that as a result of our contacts in the local basketball community, we opened up our internal leagues and invited other teams to join us. Barsail Bulldogs slotted into the Primary and Rookie leagues while two teams from Johnstone High School (Spurs and Mavericks) expanded our Sophomore league structure to six teams. The initiative brought a healthy competitive edge to all three leagues and some hugely entertaining games were seen as a result. Barsail showed marked improvement with each game they played and the two Johnstone teams demonstrated a simple, no nonsense and incredibly quick approach to their games.
In response to tough financial times, there was an emphasis on fundraising this season and the club was very grateful to a lot of players, Coaches and Committee Members who put in a lot of time to try to bring money into the club. As well as manning our usual Bishopton Day stall, some much needed funds were raised with our sponsored lay-up challenge in March and at our annual Awards Night in June which featured a Grand Raffle, Blind Auction and Guess the Weight of the Cake competition. End of season also saw Junior Coach shirts being presented to Julia Barclay and Jill Millar while Shirley Adamson was elected on to the Committee.
